  COOKIE POLICY

Section 1: Introduction

Welcome to Viosmart Marketplace Limited’s (“Viosmart” “we”, “us”, “our”) online Cookie Policy. This document details how Viosmart uses cookies.

We also have separate documents that cover our:

Section 2: What are cookies?

In using www.viosmart.co.uk (the “Platform”), you will provide certain personal information to Viosmart and certain information about you will be collected by “cookies”.

Cookies are small text files placed on your computer by websites that you visit. They are widely used in order to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information. This information is used to track visitor use of the Platform and to compile statistical reports on website activity. The information cannot be seen by any other websites (so the information is secure) and it enables our system to recognise you when you visit our Platform again. In doing so, this helps improve our service to you.

Section 3: Types of cookies

We use three types of cookies on our Platform:

Session cookies: These enable you to carry out some essential functions on our Platform, such as maintaining login details for the session. They also help by minimising the need to transfer information across the internet. They are not stored permanently on your computer and they expire when you terminate your browser session.

Persistent cookies: These cookies remain on your computer for a pre-determined time after which they are removed. They are used for such things as enabling us to recognise returning users to the Platform without the need to sign in every time.

Third party cookies: These are cookies that merchants and retailers who are linked to from our Platform create. Some are essential, such as those used by stores to track your purchases. Others are not essential but useful, such as those used by Google Analytics – a tool which we use to monitor the general use of our Platform and allow us to make changes to improve your experience when you visit.

Section 4: Why do we use cookies?

Cookies are essential for the proper function of our Platform and services. Cookies need to be enabled in order for you to access your account. Therefore, if cookies are blocked or disabled, you will not be able to log in or access your account.

Cookies are used by our partner retailers and intermediaries (such as technology providers, marketing agencies and affiliate networks) to track that you visited them via the Platform as well as any subsequent transactions. Therefore, if cookies are blocked or disabled, then this may prevent donations being raised by your shopping online with retailers listed on our Platform and passed to the Viosmart Box For Good Foundation.

Section 5: Web log information

Web log information is gathered when you visit our Platform by the computer that hosts our Platform (called a “server”). The server automatically recognises some information, such as the date and time you visited our Platform, the pages you visited, crashes, the website you came from, the type of browser you are using (e.g. Google Chrome), the type of operating system you are using, and location data. It helps us improve our Platform and to deliver a better and more personalised service, such as by enabling us to:

  • estimate our audience size and usage patterns;

  • store information about your preferences, allowing us to customize our Platform according to your individual interests;

  • speed up your searches; and

  • recognize you when you return to our Platform.

Section 6: How we apply local shared objects, pixel tags, web beacons, analytics and tailored advertising

The Platform may use other technology that is standard to the internet, such as local shared objects, pixel tags, web beacons and other similar technologies, to track visitors to or users of the Platform. Those tools may be used by us and by third parties (such as Facebook and Google) to collect information about you and your internet activity.

We may use third party web analytics services, such as those of Google Analytics, who use cookies to collect information in an anonymous form, such as the number of visitors to the Platform, the user names of visitors, where visitors have come to the Platform from, the pages they visit and the actions they take while using the Platform. You can opt out of Google Analytics by visiting the Google Analytics’ Opt-out Page.

We and third party service providers (such as Google and Facebook) may serve targeted advertisements through the use of cookies, pixels and web beacons when you visit the Platform or visit third party websites. In some instances, these cookies may be persistent cookies. We and third party service providers may also use cookies and other information to try and identify other devices and browsers that you may use so we and third party service providers may serve targeted advertisements to those devices. We do this to provide you with advertising that we believe may be relevant for you.

You can opt out of Google’s use of such targeted advertisements by visiting the Google Advertising Opt-out Page. You can learn how to opt out of Facebook targeted advertisements by similarly visiting its website. If you opt-out of these targeted advertising cookies, your opt-out will be specific to the browser or mobile device from which you accessed the opt-out. If you use multiple devices or browsers, you will need to opt-out each browser or device that you use.
